Now Forming

The Journal of Preclinical Therapeutics is a new, peer-reviewed open-access journal currently accepting submissions for its inaugural issue.

We're building JPT the way an indexed journal is expected to run from day one: a real double-blind peer review process, a defined editorial policy, and full transparency about where we are in our launch. No issue has been published yet — this page will list our first accepted articles as they clear peer review.
What We're Looking For

Original research in pharmacokinetics, toxicology, immunopharmacology, and translational efficacy modeling.

See the Aims & Scope section below for full detail, and the Guide for Authors for submission requirements. We particularly welcome studies using reduced-animal and alternative methodologies.

Aims & Scope

The Journal of Preclinical Therapeutics publishes original, peer-reviewed research at the preclinical stage of drug development — in vitro, ex vivo, in vivo, and in silico studies that inform the design, safety, and efficacy of candidate therapeutics before they enter human trials.

Core subject areas:

  • Pharmacokinetics & Pharmacodynamics
  • Toxicology & Safety Pharmacology
  • Immunopharmacology & Biologics
  • Drug Discovery & Lead Optimization
  • Formulation & Drug Delivery — novel drug delivery systems (NDDS) including nanoparticles, liposomes, niosomes, solid lipid nanoparticles, nanoemulsions, microspheres, dendrimers, transdermal and in-situ gel systems, and other sustained- or targeted-release platforms, along with their preclinical evaluation
  • Translational Efficacy Modeling
  • Computational & In Silico Drug Design — molecular docking, molecular dynamics, QSAR, virtual screening, CADD
  • Phytoconstituent Pharmacology — preclinical pharmacological, toxicological, or formulation studies of isolated, structurally-characterized phytoconstituents (e.g. a purified alkaloid, flavonoid, or terpenoid)
  • Methodology — reduced-animal designs and alternative in vitro models

This list defines the journal's core focus, not an exhaustive boundary. Submissions addressing genuinely preclinical drug-development questions outside these specific areas may still be considered at the editors' discretion, provided the work is rigorous and clearly preclinical in nature.

Article types accepted: Research Articles, Review Articles, and Case Studies — each presenting original, methodologically rigorous preclinical work.

All submissions involving animal models must include documented ethics/IACUC approval and follow ARRIVE 2.0 reporting guidelines. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review with a minimum of two independent reviewers. Accepted articles are published under a CC BY 4.0 license with immediate open access and no embargo period.
